Offered: a sought-after set of the Dutch military compass, in exceptionally fine condition Model 1922 (M.22) Bézard. This specific example is an early private officer's purchase from the early 1920s, bought through the well-known Court and State Supplier  Gebroeders P.H. Caminada at Lange Houtstraat 3 in The Hague (La Haye). Because this is an early private purchase by an officer (before large-scale central government procurement), the case does not bear the later D.v.O. (Department of War) depot stamps, making this example especially rare within the early M.22 evolution. Features & Details: Compass Manufacturer: G. Lufft, Stuttgart (equipped with the early trade mark with aneroid capsule on the back). Lid: Fitted with the correct, deeply stamped Dutch mark "RICHTING" with bearing arrow. Inside: Crystal-clear, unprinted glass plate with the early brass compass rose beneath it. The folding mirror on the side shows the mirrored cardinal directions with the correct Dutch designation "ZW" (South-West) instead of the international 'SW'. Operation: Fully functional dry compass (mechanical damping system). The needle responds smoothly and the needle lock (lever mechanism via the lid) works flawlessly. Case: Original brown leather carrying case with wide belt loop on the back. The snap button closes perfectly. Provenance / Label: On the front is the original, extremely fragile paper shop and importer label of the firm Opticiens P.H. Caminada Den Haag / La Haye. This delicate label has remained in remarkably well-preserved condition after more than a century and is fully legible. Condition:In neat, complete, and fully working condition. No bent parts or deep scratches on the mirror or compass glass. The leather is supple and not dried out. An absolute 'matching set' with a unique Hague defense history. Museum-quality, perfect for the serious collector of pre-war Dutch militaria (Interbellum / Mobilization 1939).
