Exceptionally extensive, historically important, and 100% original German photo album. This album documents in a rare and seamless way the complete transition from the Reichswehr to the early Wehrmacht. The album covers the crucial years 1924 to approx. 1935 and contains no fewer than 114 original period photos of high quality. Great advantage for historical research:In addition to the clean, handwritten page titles in white stencil script, many of the photos have been individually described by the maker himself. These handwritten annotations (with names, specific dates, barracks details, and unique descriptions) give the album tremendous depth and make it a fully documented, person-related historical record. Content segments: The Youth Movement (1924-1928): Photos of a Harz hike (1924) and a South Germany trip (1928). A wonderful snapshot of Wandervogel culture with traditional hiking clothing and student caps (school caps). Includes an extensive topographical series featuring, among others, Heidelberg, Lake Constance, and prewar, still completely undestroyed Nuremberg. The Reichswehr in Osnabrück (1929-1932): Because the Reichswehr was then limited by the Treaty of Versailles to just 100,000 men, militaria from this period is extremely scarce. This section contains fantastic and rare barracks and maneuver photos. Shown are soldiers in the early uniforms with M16/M18 steel helmets and Gewehr 98 rifles, indoor barracks life (barracks life), early military trucks, and horse stables. Includes a spectacular snapshot of the airship LZ 127 "Graf Zeppelin" flying low over the barracks in 1929. The Wehrmacht service period (From 1933): The album seamlessly documents the transition to the early years of the Wehrmacht. This section contains a crystal-clear studio portrait of the soldier with the early Wehrmacht chest eagle, large-scale motorized transport columns, and unique shots of heavy winter and ski training (military ski training) in the deep mountain snow (full combat gear and rifles on the back). The album ends with motorized parades and a magnificent series of historic Dresden (Frauenkirche and the Zwinger) before the city’s total destruction in 1945. Condition:The album is in absolute, untouched museum condition. Over the years, no photos have come loose or been removed/cut out after the war; the historical integrity has been 100% preserved. The exterior features a stunning, undamaged fabric Art Deco cover with a geometric pattern, complete with the original binding cord and two-tone decorative tassel.
