For the enthusiast of early Dutch militaria: a beautiful and extremely rare pair of hand-carved miniature women’s clogs from the mobilization period of 1939. This type of slim ladies’ footwear with a subtle heel was bought or made by servicemen at the time to send as a personal souvenir to the home front (wife, girlfriend, or mother). This set breathes history and has been personalized with great detail and a fantastic wink by a soldier from the Peel-Raam Position: Instep: Beautifully engraved with "Mobilization 1939" and garrison location "Mill". Unit: Marked with "2. I. 13. R.I." (2nd Company, 1st Battalion, 13th Infantry Regiment). Left clog: A detailed engraved artillery cannon. Right clog: The infantryman himself, recognizably depicted with a Dutch helmet, sitting with his fingers in his ears because of the loud blast of the gun. A wonderful snapshot of barracks life! Size: 17x6x6 CM. Condition:The clogs show some light, old woodworm damage (see photos), but the structure is stable and the wood is solid (no active woodworm). An honest, unaltered object whose engravings are razor-sharp and perfectly legible. A beautiful display piece!
