Death card for Wehrmacht soldier Franz Xaver Wittmann, born on 10 February 1924 in Bogen. Franz worked before his military service as a machine fitter (metalworker). During the war he served as a soldier in a Flak battery (anti-aircraft defense). On 27 August 1943, he died at the young age of just 19 and a half in the Reserve-Lazarett (military hospital) Duisburg-Beeck. According to the official database of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, he is registered as a war casualty and his official final resting place is in the honorary cemetery within the main cemetery (Hauptfriedhof) in Duisburg.
