Death card for Wehrmacht NCO Wilhelm Runkler, born on 25 November 1913 in Breibach. Wilhelm was a recipient of the Iron Cross 2nd Class (E.K. 2) and the Wound Badge (Verwundeten Abzeichen). He served on the Eastern Front and was repeatedly wounded there. On 18 October 1944, he fell in battle (K.I.A.) at the age of 30 as a result of his fourth severe wound. According to the official database of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, his grave could no longer be recovered after the war; his name is therefore recorded in memoriam in the Volksbund's book of remembrance.
