Death card of Wehrmacht Obergefreiter Karl Hecht, born in Breitenweinzier (Bogen, Bavaria). Karl served in the field artillery and was severely wounded during the fierce defensive fighting on the Eastern Front. He succumbed to his serious injuries on 18 January 1945 at the age of 23 (in his 24th year). According to the official database of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, Karl Hecht's details are recorded. His place of birth is Breitenweinzier (Bavaria) and his date of death is listed as 18 January 1945 on the Eastern Front. At the time, Karl Hecht could not be transferred to a central German military cemetery because of the wartime conditions. His name is therefore included in the Volksbund's official memorial book to preserve his memory. The card is in good condition and was printed by Buchdruckerei Fritz Hartmannsgruber in Bogen.
