Death card of Wehrmacht Gefreiter Fritz Gorrissen, born in Dülken on 7 January 1924. Fritz served in the Wehrmacht from December 1941 and fought on the Eastern Front as a Gefreiter in a Grenadier Regiment. He was killed at the age of 20 on 28 September 1944. This card is historically very interesting because it explicitly states that he was awarded two combat decorations: the Infanterie-Sturmabzeichen in Silber (Infantry Assault Badge in Silver) and the Verwundeten-Abzeichen (Wound Badge). According to the official Volksbund database, Fritz Gorrissen is buried at the German military cemetery in Potelych . This ties in with the fierce withdrawal battles in Galicia/Western Ukraine in the autumn of 1944.
