Death card of Wehrmacht Private Hans (Johann) Kiermeier, born on 17 July 1921 in Rainfurt. After a three-year frontline deployment Hans served as a Private in Panzer Pioneer Battalion 13 (part of the 13th Panzer Division). On 1 June 1944, he was killed in action (K.I.A.) at the age of 22 during fierce defensive fighting in the east near Gura Văii in Romania. According to the official database of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, his grave could no longer be recovered after the war; his name is therefore recorded in remembrance in the Volksbund's memorial book.
