German WW1 medal in case, Eiserner Ritter Elberfeld 1915. Very special medal that is difficult to obtain in the original case. In Elberfeld, a fundraising campaign was held in 1915 to offer Kriegshilfe to  wounded soldiers, they used the image of the knight as depicted on the medal in a large format, then citizens and associations could use a nail of various materials, buy it for a certain price and put it in the picture (metal, silver and gold nails were sold) These medals were awarded to associations and individuals who spent a lot. The action brought in good money, on April 30, 1916 the total profit was calculated at 70,000 Mark. Special item!
