An original leather chin strap (chin straps) for the German steel helmet (suitable for the M35, M40 and M42 models). This is an early-war example that is fully complete, consisting of both the long strap side (equipped with 13 holes) and the short buckle side with the steel buckle and metal split pins. The leather is in a neat, healthy and supple condition with a beautiful natural dark discoloration due to age and historical use. Ideal for completing a combat helmet. At the end of the long strap is an exceptionally sharp, deeply stamped and fully legible manufacturer’s mark: "LÜTTRINGHAUS & Co. KÖLN MÜLHEIM 1940".
