For sale: A very rare and historically perfectly documented Real Photo Postcard (RPPC) from the first months of the First World War (December 1914). This is a fantastic item for collectors of militaria, postal history (Feldpost), or the history of prisoner-of-war camps. Front:A unique and razor-sharp group photo captioned: "Die Kriegsgefangenen in der Barbierstube auf der Wahner Heide". The photo shows an authentic scene of Allied prisoners of war (French/Belgian) seated outside at the barber under German supervision. This type of 'social history' card is considerably rarer than the standard military group portraits from that era. Back (postal historical details): Razor-sharp postmark: Dated -2.12.14 with the text WAHN (RHEINL.) / SCHIESSPLATZ. This proves that the card was actually sent from the military training and firing range during the construction of the prisoner-of-war camp. Censorship mark: Features the official text: "Mit Genehm. d. kgl Gouvernements d. Festung Köln". Feldpost status: Handwritten designation "Feldpost" (postage exempt). Written on: Fully written in old German Kurrentschrift, addressed to a 'Paketmeister' at International Harvester Comp. in Neuss. Condition of the card:The card is in excellent, clean collector's condition with sharp corners and minimal signs of age (see photos).
