This historic jubilee medal is in excellent collectible condition with a beautiful, authentic patina. The medal comes with the original presentation box lined with velvet and silk. The inside of the lid is marked by the maker: Rijksmunt Utrecht. Specifications & Features: - Material: Solid silver (hallmarked with the Dutch 'sword' in the rim, minimum .833 silver) - Weight: 72 gram (contains almost 60 gram pure silver) - Diameter: 63 mm Detailed description of obverse and reverse: - Obverse: Beautiful classical image of the Dutch Maiden (Minerva) with laurel wreath in her outstretched right hand, while her left hand rests on the crowned Dutch Coat of Arms. Along the rim, the inscription reads: 'Nederlandsche Maatschappij voor Nijverheid en Handel'. - Reverse: Richly decorated with the official inscription 'Increase in Public Prosperity the Aim of the Society'. Inside the detailed oak wreath is a unique historical engraving in honor of a 40-year jubilee: "For 40 years of loyal service - Vernhout & Van Sluyters' Printing Works N.V. Haarlem". The wreath also contains beautiful images of historical crafts and the coat of arms of Haarlem. A unique and meaningful piece of Dutch and Haarlem (graphic) history, but due to the high silver weight also a valuable, tangible investment in precious metal.
