Beautiful British pewter beer mug, engraved with: Hunting horn with '52': This refers to the 52nd (Oxfordshire) Regiment of Foot, which later became part of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Initials J.L.N. 33RD H.G.: Refers to the 33rd Battalion, Home Guard. During the Second World War, the Home Guard (H.G.) was organized according to the official British regimental system. Each local Home Guard battalion was officially "affiliated" with a regular army regiment. The 33rd Battalion Home Guard (based in Oxford or nearby areas) fell under the banner of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry. Furthermore, the mug bears the abbreviation: W.C.S.J.L.S. which probably stands for: War Course Series, Junior Leaders School. Dated 15-22 November 1941.
