Death card Max Kiefl, from Freundorf (Bavaria). In civilian life, he worked as a farmer's son. He served as a Driver in a heavy infantry gun unit and fell on 31 July 1941 during the fierce fighting in the early phase of the campaign on the Eastern Front at the age of 21. According to the official records of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, his status as a war casualty is fully documented in the central database of German military dead. His name is recorded in the memorial register of the large central cemetery Kiev-Sammelfriedhof in Ukraine, as he was killed there during the advance in that region at the time and his remains were transferred to this central memorial site.
