Death card Anton Kalm, from Breitenweinzier (Bavaria). In civilian life, he worked as a farmer's son. He served as NCO in an anti-tank regiment and fell on 5 November 1941 during the fierce fighting on the Eastern Front at the age of 27. Anton was the recipient of the Iron Cross 2nd Class (EK 2) and the Assault Badge. According to the official records of the Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge, his status as a war casualty is fully documented in the central database for German military dead. His name is recorded there in the memorial register, since his physical resting place was left at the time in a field grave on the Eastern Front and could no longer be individually transferred to a central cemetery because of the fighting.
