He served as Obergefreiter in a tank destroyer battalion and died on 23 February 1943 from severe injuries on the Eastern Front at the young age of 21 years and 3 months. Alois was the holder of the Eastern Front Medal and the Tank Assault Badge. According to the official records of the German War Graves Commission, his status as a war casualty is fully documented in the central database for German military casualties. At the time, he was laid to rest in the heroes' cemetery (Heroes' Cemetery) in Shisdra near Bryansk (Russia). His remains could later no longer be individually identified or transferred by the Commission, which is why his name has been permanently included in the memorial register for this region.
