Death card for Wehrmacht Corporals Ludwig Schötz and Private Willi Schötz, born in Unterföhring and Grubhöh. Ludwig served in a Grenadier Regiment and took part in the campaign in France. He was killed in action (K.I.A.) on 23 December 1941 near Leningrad in Russia, at the age of 22. Due to the fierce front-line fighting, he rests in an unmarked field grave; he is officially commemorated in the memorial book at the German War Cemetery Sologubowka (near Saint Petersburg, Russia). His younger brother Willi served with a Flak Abteilung. He died after a severe illness on 6 January 1943 in a Lazarett in Königsberg, at the age of 19. He followed his eldest brother in death exactly thirteen months later. Due to the destruction and postwar reorganization of the city, his original grave has been lost; he is remembered through the records of the German War Cemetery Kaliningrad (the former Königsberg).
