The book is the first edition (Erste Auflage) with the unique serial number Nr. 2062 and was distributed by the well-known military publisher E. S. Mittler & Sohn at Kochstraße 68-71 in Berlin. The book presents all nautical and geographical data of the shipping route with 82 views and coastal profiles in the text! The book is stamped on the inside page by the official sales and correction office „Seekarte” Bremen – Official Distribution and Correction Office. The fact that this handbook is fitted at the back with an original paper insert pocket (Nachträge) containing both the official Nachtrag 1938 and an Ergänzungsheft proves that the book was carried complete and updated. The official Nachtrag 1938 is closed with Nachrichten für Seefahrer issue 52 of 31 December 1937 and was also distributed by E.S. Mittler & Sohn in Berlin. The loose Ergänzungsheft was published by „Seekarte” G.m.b.H. Seekarten-Berichtigungs-Institut, located at Hafenstr. 88-90 in Bremen. This booklet has been filled in by hand for this specific handbook (Westküste Afrikas, Teil I) and manually corrected up to Nachrichten für Seefahrer 1939, issue 44. On the inside page of the handbook there is also a handwritten note stating that Nachtrag 1939 belongs to the book. The book has a blue linen cover with gold embossing of the Reich eagle with swastika and is in complete, used condition with light signs of age on the binding.
