Kriegsmarine F-Tafel III. Edition Hamburg 1941. This book is extremely rare and was mainly used by U-boat crews. The book was used to determine the exact position of a ship or submarine on the open sea using the stars, the sun, or the moon. Navigators measured the angle of a celestial body above the horizon with a sextant. The F-Tafel contained the mathematical tables needed to quickly convert these measurements into usable altitude lines(navigation chart lines).The book is complete throughout, has some very light old insect damage on the first and last three pages, but is completely stable and in very neat condition. The book is stamped with Kriegsmarinearsenal Gotenhafen Kartengruppe. Size: 30x20,5 CM. Very rare item!
